Hi everybody, welcome to Band Edge. It's a new music show produced right here at WCCATV, The People's Channel. And we support local music and we hope you do too. Today we're going to feature the wonderful jazz music of Carmen Spada and his trio. They performed here at WCCATV back in May 2008 and we want to share their performance with you. So check it out, it's Groovy Man. Hi everybody, welcome to WCCATV 13, The People's Channel. I'm Mauro Di Pasquale and I'm really glad that you're here this evening. We wish there were more people here but maybe tonight's still young so perhaps that'll happen. I know there are a lot of great things going on in the city of Worcester this evening and we really appreciate you taking time to be here. WCCA's mission is to ensure people have access to the use of a public forum through various channels of communication including technology and media with educational and training resources. WCCATV is a 501c3 charitable organization. Tonight your donations are especially welcome. WCCATV has facilitated and managed Public Access Community Media Center here since 1986. This is the place where you and your neighbors can come here and create your very own TV show, have it cable and webcast and seen on cable channel 13 in the city of Worcester and also all over the world on the internet at WCCATV.com. WCCA offers certification and training workshops and we can teach you how to produce TV or to digitally edit video and to post it online and even help you run a computer or build your own webpage. So all these things go on here at WCCA. Our website is an extension of our Public Access facility. You can create, interact, create your own blogs, post events, share video, learn more about WCCA and the amazing creativity that goes on here every day by our members of all ages of all diversity and backgrounds. So we are very proud especially of two of our community news programs, Community Vision which is a community news where anybody can be an anchor person, any organization can come in and represent themselves. And we also have a news program created by young people between the ages of 13 and 18 called Young Views Real News and they do a great job and they have international partnerships and they work with people creating youth interest, youth news with folks all over the world. It's a great experience. We invite you to become part of WCCA in any way you think you can. To create your own show, to be a guest on a show, to volunteer, help or share your talent. We have hundreds of programs and there's always room for more. We are non-discriminatory and we welcome everybody. Tonight is another extension of our mission. WCCA remains committed to the arts. After all, art is communication and I'm proud to welcome you to WCCA's 7th annual Art Attack. This night on May 1st, 2008 is all about the heart of the artist. Yesterday's kickoff night we featured a film that was presented and hosted by the Italian American Cultural Center, a film by Roberto Benigni. It was a great movie and that was also preceded by reflections on Worcester's own peacemaker, activist, teacher and artist Tom Lewis who's also been a friend of WCCA who recently passed away. Some of Tom's work is here this evening and I hope you take time to view his work as we have it in the reception area in Studio B. Also, along with Tom's work, we have work by Kathleen Haddad who's a wonderful watercolor artist. So we hope you have time to enjoy the art. We have some great art coming up later on today which I'll introduce the artists and they'll be up to discuss what drives them, what motivates them and you have an opportunity to talk with them directly as well. So I thank you for being here. Now first up we have some great, talented musicians. It's an international cast of musicians I should say. We have the Common Spada Jazz Trio and Common is a pianist, a vocalist, a composer. He's a graduate from Berklee College of Music with a double major and well known from the Brampton Jazz scene in Ontario, Canada. He's joined by Shin Sukiyara. I hope I say your guys' name right. So is it Shin Sukiyara? Sukiyara. And Jun Nishijima. Nishijima. All right. My name is Mauro. Everybody has a tough time with that too for some reason. But thank you for being here guys. So without further ado, enjoy the music. It's great stuff. So enjoy the music and have a great evening, and enjoy the party unfortunately. It's very clear, our love is here to stay. Not for a year, but ever and today. The radio and the telephone, the music that we know are just passing And time they go, oh my dear, our love is here to stay. Together we're going a long, long way. In time the lucky's back, crock forger, bronzer, man, some both are only a man of clay. But our love is here to stay. The radio and the telephone, the music that we know are just passing And time they go, oh my dear, our love is here to stay. Music Applause Music Music Imagination is funny. It makes a cloudy day sunny. Makes a bee think of honey just like I would think of you. Imagination is crazy. Your whole perspective gets hazy. Starts you asking a daisy what to do, what to do. Have you ever felt a gentle touch and then a kiss and then and then. Find it's only your imagination again. Oh well. Imagination is silly. You go around willy-nilly. For example, I go around wanting you. And I can't imagine that you would want me to. As was announced, my name is Carmen Spada and I'm coming from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. And happy to be here and happy to be in the Boston area and close to Berkley and such. And welcome in my trio here on bass, Shin Sakaino. And on drums, Jun Nishijima. They're from the west end of Boston. I'm from the east. Anyways, we're going to end off with a tune that I typically end gigs with. It's fun. Some regular gigs that I have and the regular crowd always know this tune and they always sing along with it. They've heard it so many times they know the words and it's really fun. So this is a rendition of Route 66.
